DEFINITION OF TERMS IN THIS CLAUSE
β‘ line along the coast of a coastal State as marked on large-scale charts officially recognised by the coastal State which acts as the starting point for measuring the breadth of the sea around a coastal state.
β‘ An area of the sea or a large lake, partly surrounded by a wide curve of land. In international fisheries law, it is a well-marked indentation whose penetration is in such proportion to the width of its mouth as to contain land-locked waters and constitute more than a mere curvature of the coast, with its area as large as, or larger than, that of the semi-circle whose diameter is a line drawn across the mouth of that indentation.
